Active Self Protection

I filed a complaint with Delta over their firearm-endangerment policy.

"Your policies create a public safety issue and I do not appreciate being made a target by your policies. Anyone who knows your policy can sit back and watch for people exiting the baggage office with a case bound in plastic zip tie strapping and can target that person in the parking lot knowing there is a valuable firearm in the case. Not only does it endanger the public (me, in this instance, but it applies to everyone thusly harmed), but it makes no sense -- those straps are much easier to defeat than the locks we place on those cases. They add no value and place the public at risk. Please cease and desist this useless and dangerous practice."

And the response, which sure looks to me like the old joke, "We'll give your message all the attention it deserves."

Southwest has been great. They were so efficient that yesterday they included our firearm baggage on the main carousel with all the regular baggage so as to raise no suspicion.

Interesting. I can't reply to John's response.

I wonder if this one will go through.

As a side note, pliers-style toenail clippers are now a standard travel item. I may follow John's lead (if I'm remembering the video correctly) and leave them there for them to clean up.

I just don't like being a jerk, and certainly wouldn't want to wind up on a Double Secret Probation list or anything.

So I felt filing a complaint, which by itself means nothing, was nonetheless the logical first step.

Now if only a few thousand more Delta customers filed similar complaints...why then they may think it's a movement.
