Active Self Protection

Question for anyone with experience (direct or indirect) with Talon Grips:

I thought I was buying a set of rubber-textured grip modules for my sidearm, but it turns out it's a.... sticker.... that wraps around your existing grips. Amongst other, more obvious concerns about quality and deterioration, I'm also worried that this prevents me from ever removing the backstrap should I need to.

And so, the Question: Are these things worth a hoot? Any pros/cons out there?

Also, calling them "stickers" probably isn't fair; from the looks of things, there's probably a dual-layer adhesive at work, since after you set it you're supposed to run a heater over it, suggesting a heat-activated bonding agent.

I have them on most of my guns. It is an overlay that wears very well. It is also easy to remove if you decide you want it off. It gives me the added ‘grip’ to hold on to the gun.

I run the PRO version for my competition pistol and rubber on the daily. They both work great, one key is being meticulous about surface prep before installing. Will they last forever, absolutely not, with body oils and heat the adhesive will start to fail at some point. It hasn't happened to me yet but at the first sign of the adhesive giving up I'll just replace them. They're $20, I consider them a consumable item.

They work OK. They're cheaper than a stipple job or Hogue grips (which I'm generally not a fan of.)

I view them as something that can be added to a firearm and if you hate it, ditch them. You can remove Talons but can't unstipple a frame.
