I'm looking to understand what I need to be looking for in a tactical belt. Here's why:
I run concealed only. Enigma in deep appendix; foresee a possible vertical shoulder rig for RV travel. I don't have a box of holsters (although I do have a box of accoutrements used in the efforts to make the Enigma work for me); I do not own a side holster. (Unless I go to war or become a LEO, I have no interest in one.)
My regular belt is sturdy enough to support my accessories -- largely, at present, consisting of a single horizontal spare mag holder. (Ironically, I use suspenders to hold up the pants, so -- at least at first glance -- I am a "belts & suspenders" guy LOL)
I use Move & Shoot events to get non-square-range experience, and to add the extra distractions commensurate with such an event, in an effort to get the reps in for that horrible day I pray never comes. I am not there to compete against the other participants; I am there to compete against myself -- to improve my focus, awareness, speed, and accuracy under simulated duress.
Therefore, I always run them in EDC and EDW. For me, it's not really a competion -- it's training.
Here's the catch: My re-holster time is costing the event time and is an inconvenience to everyone, and I have ZERO interest in being "that guy".
So my compromise is that from now I'll strip the outer layer for the event. Jeans and outer shirt come off, and I'll run the course in my leggings and undershirt.
But that leaves me with no belt for the spare mags, and there are often mandatory (or implied-mandatory) reloads.
SO -- what am I looking for in a tactical belt which will be worn without belt loops and without feminine curvy hips to hold up the belt?
