Anchorage police finally have body cams. Release policy is still being worked out. The other day 4 officers responded to a domestic and the suspect came out with a rifle. Initial press release was he had raised it prior to them firing, Ring video appears to show he didn't. Local usual suspects are making the standard "so it was murder" complaint.

No body cam footage yet.
I think this will be only the second Alaska city cop bodycam footage released. The only other one I've seen was a Juneau officer use of force against a guy approaching him swinging a "harmless" usual suspects claim again) chain on a leash back in 2020. Cop had to go from looking at houses on his phone to deadly force. Made the choice to retrieve his patrol rifle prior to contacting the guy, which worked out well for him (the officer).
