I’ve heard that something like over 90% of defensive uses of a firearm do not even require the defender firing a shot (effectively defensive display). I know these stats are hard to get accurately, and I don’t know if it’s true, but it seems plausible? Does anyone know of resources, analyses, or video lists of defensive gun use where no shots are fired, and how these encounters typically go / what these scenarios look like? I’m curious to just learn more, as it seems like a scenario someone would more likely find themselves in, given the statistics. I also have a hard time thinking of scenarios where I’d draw my firearm and haven’t already made the decision to shoot.
Curious other people’s thoughts as well.
Yeah if you think there are 2 million DGUs a year, the vast majority would have to end with no shots fired.
Would be interesting if ASP had a playlist of those, if there are even any videos of these that you have. I assume the vast majority probably don’t get captured, and possibly don’t even get reported to police, so i get why that may be challenging.
